It’s finally here! The MCC Festival for World Relief is coming up this weekend, September 16 & 17. For you faithful attendees, this post is to tell you about the new and exciting aspects of the Festival this year. For those of you who have never been, this post is to tell you why this is the year to change that!

The Festival Passport: First things first. When you purchase your food tickets, you’ll be given a Festival Passport. It tells you about our fundraising goal for this year’s Festival, and has a map of the Tradex with a scavenger hunt for you to complete. (1) Pick up a My Coins Count coin box at the My Coins Count booth, (2) build a relief kit at the Material Resources booth, (3) visit the model Refugee Tent to learn about what life is like for a refugee and (4) pick up your free gift at the Donor Booth when you’re done!

If you’re an MCC donor, we’ve got another special something for you, so make sure you stop by the “Donor Gift” table, located right in the middle of the Donor Booth.

The Auction: Bidding for the silent auction will be taking place online this year. You can view the full catalogue here and bid straight from your mobile device or computer starting at 12 pm on Friday (12 pm on Thursday if you pre-register!). Pre-register TODAY and you’ll also be entered to win a gift bag from Ten Thousand Villages.

If you don’t have access to a computer or mobile device, we’ll have volunteers floating around the auction area wearing blue “Kaun ekj jünt halpe?” (“Can I help you?”) shirts to help you place bids, ensuring that this is an easy and enjoyable process for everyone.

The live auction will be taking place on Friday night only, at 7:30 pm. Check out the items for the live auction in advance here, and pre-register to save time at the Festival.

The Kids AreaThis 10,000+ square foot area has been totally revamped with fun games, hands-on projects and crafts for kids of all ages, a petting zoo and a passport for the kiddos too! No tickets this year – admission to the whole area is just $5 for the duration of the festival. Click here to read about all the exciting things you can expect.

The Food: Everyone’s favourite! If you’ve never been to the Festival before, click here to get the low-down on what’s on offer.

Dora’s Retiring! Help us say goodbye and thank you to Dora Hoeppner, MCC BC’s faithful Relief Festival Coordinator over the last 13 years. You can find her wearing a yellow shirt, carrying a walkie-talkie and making sure everything runs smoothly. Read about Dora and her contribution to the festival here.

P.S. Parking at Tradex is $6 (cash only) so make sure to bring some change.
